Meet the Author
Howard Reich is the author of six books; writer/producer of three documentary films; and author/scenarist of one ballet. He has served on the jury for the Pulitzer Prize in Music four times, including the first time a jazz composition won: Wynton Marsalis’ “Blood on the Fields,” in 1997. Howard graduated from Northwestern University as a piano performance major, did graduate studies there in music theory and history, has won an Emmy award and holds two honorary doctorate degrees. He covered music and the arts for the Chicago Tribune from 1978 to 2021.
